Area Community Sailing (TACS)
We are located in Traverse City, Michigan. We are a local non-profit organization, est. 1994, Traverse Area Community Sailing's mission is to provide sailing opportunities for the Grand Traverse Region. YOUTH SAILING CAMP - For children 8-17, the camp is taught by US Sailing certified instructors in 8' prams, Sunfish and JY15's. Each student is placed in a boat and program appropriate to their size and experience. ADULT LEARN TO SAIL - For the young of heart, our adult program is taught in the 17' Interlakes on Boardman lake. ADVANCED SAILING CAMP - Aimed at sailors who have previously participated in the Youth Sailing Camps, the Advanced Camp teaches sail trim, race tactics and advanced boat handling in 1 person (Lasers), 2 person (JY 15's) and 3 person boats (Interlakes) TACS RACING TEAM - For Middle and High School students who have completed the Advanced Sailing Camp, the Racing Team provides sailors the opportunity to race as part of a crewed boat on a 17' Interlake on Thursdays against some of the best sailors in the area. FAMILY FUN NIGHT EVERY THURSDAY - Come sailing on Boardman Lake on Thursday with a season pass!

Registration for 2008 Season is now open! Traverse Area Community Sailing (TACS) is now accepting registrations for the 2008 Summer Camp Sessions. TACS attracted more than 360 sailing students last summer, camps are filled on a first come first served basis (and some fill up so don't wait). Camp dates begin June 16th and run through August 15th at Hull Park on the north end of Boardman Lake, (behind the TC Public Library). Cost for a two-week half-day camp is $170. Sailing Passes are $60 for students, $85 for adults & $135 per family. More information as well as Registration forms may be downloaded from the TACS web site or picked up at the Grand Traverse Yacht Club. Camp Registration is open to youth ages 8 to 17. TACS also offers evening Adult Beginning & Intermediate Sailing Courses. Questions may be directed to TACS at 231-922-5922. Sign up for any camp session through Active.com secure online registration. Credit Card payments will now be taken only through the online registration portal. Checks can be sent with the completed registration form and mailed to TACS at the address below. Thank You! For yet another great year at TACS. 2007 saw 360 sailors tack across Boardman Lake this past summer. One of the best summers yet for sailing in recent memory, we hope next summer holds the same. We sincerely appreciate everyone who makes an effort to make TACS a successful and prosperous program. The parents for shuttling the kids to the site, the instructors for their commitment to the program, the Board Of Directors and the volunteers who complete the circle and make it better year after year. Looking forward to 2008! Update on the HULL PARK Boat House Our efforts continue in raising $500,000 even as the new boat house begins construction.
